2+3*4=20!!!

Being senior Professor in Comp Sci, I am feeling very sorry for the standards of the students.
Last year also I did ask some student what is the value of 2+3*4. The answer is 20. Just Y'day again I did ask current batch. The answer is same. I was horrified.

In entire class not even a single fellow is able to tell the compound interest calculations.
Hardly 40% remembers the calculation of area of a traingle given three sides.

Where are we going?

Who are the culprits for such a state in Higher Education?.
Parents?
Students?
Managements?
Teachers?.

Really I felt horrible.
